Just One Step is an in-depth look at the human need to run. Why we do it, why some of us crave it, and what the benefits are to ourselves and our species as a whole. As we look closer at this seemingly benign activity however, we find that maybe it can be just as damaging as beneficial.
We all know that person who needs to strap on their sneakers as often as possible and go. Who can’t function without taking just one step out the door for their run. They are everywhere, and their numbers are growing steadily. Is it really necessary? Is it a need, an addiction or is it just plain crazy?
What is it that drives these people to run? The act of running seems tied to many different aspects of our existence, some basic and some highly personal.
Ask any runner and they’ll likely give you a different answer than the runner next to them. It seems convoluted and complicated. But perhaps it’s not. Just One Step ventures into the world of running and runners to find what it is that compels not just them, but all of us. What is it that we as a species are doing out there on the tarmac the track and the trail, running various distances from the very short to the almost inhumanely long?
